As-Built- Documen- tation
|
Existing
factory workshops and industrial plants are sur- veyed in
detail three-dimensionally. For new buildings, further
extensions and reconstruction in the future there are
millimetre exact space co-ordinates available, from which
two-dimensional construction plans can be drawn.

Semi-auto- mated
3D modelling
|
From
the data gathered by the Z+F Laser Measurement System and
with the LFM
software
developed
by Z+F, 3D models of the actual state of the factory or
plant (e.g. tubes, steel girders) can be generated.
Further- more, it is possible to generate complete CAD
models from the 3D scan data (the so-called point
cloud).

Simulation
/ Collision Check
|
With
the 3D models it is possible to simulate manufac- turing
processes and to carry out collision checks. Example:
Another production robot of the same type has to be
added to an existing plant.

Tolerance Analysis
|
With
the raw 3D data (point clouds) a direct comparison with
existing CAD models is possible and thus it can immediately
be seen if there are deviations.

Facility
Management
|
All
fixed equipment like cables or tubes is surveyed as well
and saved in a 3D database which serves as the basis for
future reconstruction. This database can be updated and
extended at any time.

Further Features
|
The
provided software enables among other things interpoint
measuring in local or absolute coordinates or the
integration of 3D data including ground plans and digital
images.

|
Data
Import / Data Export
|
Data
exchange with different CAD systems (Micro- station,
CATIA, PDS, PDMS etc.) as well as many other file
formats
(ASCII,
VRML etc.) is possible. Thus, the data can also be made
available for virtual reality appli- cations.

|
Cost Savings
|
By
using Z+F Laser Measurement Systems in virtual factory
and industrial plant planning, compromise solutions and
resulting bottlenecks can be avoided. The down- times
during the gathering of data are reduced to a minimum due
to the fast, high-resolution and light-inde- pendent
surveying.
The potential savings for new buildings and
recon- struction work have been projected in independent
studies carried out by different automobile
manufacturers with up to 15% of the overall investment
amount!
